The type of personal information we collect

Personal information means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified.

We currently collect and process personal information such as (but not limited to):

  • Your first name, surname and title
  • Your telephone number
  • Your email address
  • Your postal address
  • Demographic information such as gender, age and occupation

How we get the information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you when you complete a questionnaire either face-to-face, by telephone, by post or by email.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful basis we rely on for processing this information is your consent.

On occasion, we may handle sensitive personal data such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, data concerning health, or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation. Our grounds for collecting and processing sensitive data is based on explicit consent.

What we do with the information we have

We use the information that you have given us for the purposes of confidential market research studies and the information gathered is used solely for these purposes.

We may share the information with other researchers working on the project from both within and outside the organisation and, in some circumstances, with the client.

Sometimes we are required to transfer data outside the UK because our clients are based there. We will always ask your consent before transferring your data outside the UK and we will ensure safeguards are put in place by checking that the country where your data is being transferred to has Data Protection laws recognised by the UK Data Protection Act or a contractual agreement is in place with the client that requires them to protect your data to the same standards as all applicable UK data protection law.

How we store your information

Your information is securely stored in electronic or paper format at Pook Fieldwork’s Head Office: 40 Rocks Lane, London SW13 0DA.

We keep your information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for (typically 6-12 months). Your name, telephone number, gender and age may be kept for up to 3 years for the purposes of participation/attendance validation only.

Your information is disposed of by permanent deletion from the server and confidential shredding of hard copies.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
